2024 Division Updates

 

Dear Dance Worlds Coaches, 

 

We hope your team selection process is going well and that you're gearing up for a great summer ahead! Each year post-Worlds, we evaluate the previous year's divisions offered to ensure they remain competitive. With increased international participation and growth in certain genres, we are thrilled to announce the following division updates.

 

USASF SENIOR DIVISIONS

  • Senior Small Contemporary/Lyrical - will once again conduct a prelim round for at-large bid recipients
  • Senior Small Jazz and Senior Small Pom - will have a prelim round for at-large bid recipients

IASF OPEN DIVISIONS

  • Open Open will split by size: Open Open Elite (6-15 members) and Open Open Premier (16-30 members)
  • Open Jazz will split by size: Open Elite Jazz (6-15 members) and Open Premier Jazz (16-30 members) 
  • Open Pom will split by size: Open Elite Pom (6-15 members) and Open Premier Pom (16-30 members)

IASF JUNIOR DIVISION REMINDER

    REMINDER- for U.S. teams only, on the USASF Age Grid the bottom age for Juniors DID NOT come up to match the International Age Grid for the 2023-24 season. If you intend on rostering a Junior team to be considered for selection to compete at The Dance Worlds you MUST meet IASF Age Grid and Division requirements.     All other divisions will remain the same from 2023. Be on the lookout for these updates to be posted on The Dance Worlds website soon. In the meantime, we wanted to you know so you can continue preparing for the upcoming season and THE Dance Worlds 2024.

    If you haven't already registered, join us at the National Meeting in Nashville on July 21-22. Be sure to attend The Dance Worlds Scoring overview presented by Cheryl Paquette, USASF Dance Adjudication Director, to hear FIVE TIPS THAT WILL ENHANCE YOUR PERFORMANCES, gain insights into the dance scoring system and how the judges prepare for the biggest event of the season! Then hear first-hand the changes to the rules for the 2023-24 season and discuss trends that may inform changes for the 2024-25 season from the USASF Dance Rules Director, Sarah Miller Bate.
