USASF’s top priority continues to be helping to keep our athletes safe. We rely on parents and all adults working with athletes to help create and enforce a smarter and safer All Star community.
5 TIPS FOR PARENTS
1. GET EDUCATED
Our partners at SAFE AT ALL STAR have resources and training to help parents understand how abuse occurs and what to do about it. Your athlete's membership gives you access to practical resources like this that follow them throughout their All Star career.
2. CREATE HEALTHY BOUNDARIES
Help your child understand that a coach’s role should be that of a teacher, mentor or role model. A coach is not an athlete’s friend or peer.
3. RECOGNIZE HIGH-RISK AREAS
Your club should have policies that address one-on-one interactions, social media/electronic communications, team lodging and transportation, changing/locker rooms and more.
4. SPEAK UP AND REPORT MISCONDUCT
If you recognize questionable behavior — say something! Report it to law enforcement and the USASF.
5. TALK TO YOUR CHILD
Open communication with your child about their body and appropriate boundaries makes it easier for them to talk to you if anyone makes them feel uncomfortable.

BONUS TIP: Check the USASF MEMBER DIRECTORY to verify that coaches and other adults participating in All Star are USASF members who have satisfactorily completed background checks and athlete protection training. These requirements increase the layers of athlete safety in our sport.
