As the country continues to manage life during a pandemic, we'd like to direct your attention to athlete safety. Many of you have been a part of the USASF for much, or all, of the organization's life. You know the work and education that has evolved to support athlete safety. We encourage you to use this opportunity to take inventory of your own athlete protection measures and examine areas where you may become more intentional in those efforts. As a reminder, when you joined the USASF, you agreed to adhere to a unique set of Membership Terms & Conditions. This is a good time for everyone to revisit these Terms & Conditions to ensure that you are diligent in your compliance each and every day.
Review the established protocols below and be sure to share with your program. Together we can keep our sport safe for all those who choose to participate. It is up to all of us to remain vigilant to truly keep predators out of All Star.
SafeSport Training
Education and awareness are the most critical components to creating a safe and respectful environment free of abuse. Prevention starts with leaders — coaches, volunteers and even parents. The required education, policies and processes we have in place for athlete protection include those we adopted from the U.S. Center for SafeSport, the accepted standard of care in youth sports. The USASF requires SafeSport training and certification for all adult members, including adult athletes.
Misconduct Reporting
The USASF's response and resolution process for reporting misconduct mirrors SafeSport’s best practices. Each report is immediately assessed to determine the need to alert law enforcement. To learn more about SafeSport and the USASF Reporting, Response and Resolution Process, click here.
