Athlete Progression

Are You Ready To Grow?

At our current point in the evolution of All Star cheer, we are still considered a “young” youth sport. We are committed to re-focusing our attention to how athletes safely and successfully progress through the developmental stages of All Star. In order to increase the number of athletes entering and staying active in the sport, USASF has developed exciting new products to bring in younger athletes and retain their interest through the many stages of All Star cheer. Learn more about these programs below, and learn how to apply these programs to increase visibility and grow your business.

All Star Fundamentals

All Star Fundamentals is the first stop for kids who are interested in All Star cheer. The focus is on welcoming new athletes to All Star and making sure they have fun, feel safe and make friends!

Fundamentals: A Perfect Opportunity

Fundamentals is the first stop for kids who are interested in All Star cheer. We hope you’ll find the addition of FUNdamentals a great opportunity to:

  • Create a brand new revenue source
  • Establish a FUN, low-pressure, non-competitive, technique-centered progressional path for first-time cheer athletes to learn about All Star cheer and prepare to transition to competitive teams as they’re ready
  • Increase your program’s community visibility
  • Introduce All Star cheer so that kids fall in love with it for LIFE!

Considering All Star Fundamentals

As you’re considering FUNdamentals for your program, ask yourself:

  • Could we use another revenue source?
  • Do we currently have a level that welcomes new athletes into All Star cheer in a low-pressure, low-commitment, low-cost way?
  • Will we offer FUNdamentals seasonally? Annually?
  • What will we charge? (there is no mandatory USASF Athlete Membership fee, unless FUNdamentals teams exhibition at events)
  • What are our attendance expectations?
  • What age will we target? How can we establish FUNdamentals to attract new athletes to All Star before they might choose another sport or activity?

A Committed Partner

USASF is your partner in FUNdamentals. We will provide you with:

  • Sample Lesson Plans
  • Sample Formulas for profitability
  • Routines
  • Music
  • Parent Education Resources
  • Athlete resources including:
    • Character-building resources for younger athletes (similar to “What’s Your IQ?”)
    • FUN Activity Book
    • Progression Tracker

All Star Novice

All Star Novice welcomes athletes moving up from Fundamentals, or with some past cheer experience. The program continues to build a love for All Star, while focusing on skill building and growth in a low-pressure, evaluation-only environment.

All Star Novice: Take The Next Step

All Star Novice is ideal for athletes who:

  • Are ready to transition from Fundamentals to team performances that are evaluated at events
  • Are coming to your program with at least some cheer experience, possibly from a rec or youth program
  • Might be more successful on an All Star Novice team than an All Star Prep or All Star Elite team

Bridging the Gap

We hope you’ll find the addition of All Star Novice a great opportunity to:

  • Create an additional revenue source
  • Add a new level of learning challenges
  • Ease athletes into evaluation-only (scored by rating, not ranking), non-tumbling performance settings as a bridge to more highly competitive teams
  • Take time to strengthen technique and performance skills to ready athletes for All Star Prep or All Star Elite teams

Considering All Star Novice

As you’re considering All Star Novice for your program, ask yourself:

  • Could we use another revenue source?
  • Do we currently have a level that safely bridges athletes with no or little cheer experience to upper competitive levels?
  • Does All Star Novice create an opportunity to reposition athletes (or teams) from current All Star Prep or All Star Elite teams that might be more successful in All Star Novice?
  • What will we charge?
  • What are our attendance expectations?
  • What age will we target?

  • What will we charge?
  • What are our attendance expectations?
  • What age will we target?
